Visit number three! - Sophie

I was put in touch with Sophie through the Birthmark Support Group, and found out through emailing her that her birthmark was on her knees. Although my project was primarily concerned with facial marks, I thought that this could potentially expand my project so it would be worth visiting her.

After the shoot, I felt that the images weren't quite what I was looking for. Although I was extremely grateful for Sophie agreeing to appear in my work I didn't feel that her Birthmark fit in with what I had planned for the project. Some evidence of her mark remained, but Sophie has undergone a large amount of surgery to reduce its visibility and now it is barely noticeable, which of course is great for her but including her in my project may be difficult.

However, the shoot was still very worthwhile, and I learnt a lot more about how her life has been affected by her mark, and that is one of the main reasons I embarked on this project!
